Un week-end mouvementé : piratages, escroqueries cryptographiques et chaos profond
Cryptocurrency scams, hacks, and chaos dominated the headlines this weekend. On Friday night, 50 Cent’s accounts were hacked to promote the meme coin GUNIT, with the perpetrator making off with millions. The exact amount is unclear, but Fiddy himself took to Instagram to express his shock, saying, « Whoever did this made $3 million in 30 mins. » The rapper’s account and website were hacked simultaneously.
Following this, several deepfakes of Elon Musk appeared on YouTube, urging viewers to deposit their crypto on a suspicious website in exchange for free cryptocurrency. The now-deleted video looped Musk in what appeared to be a live stream of a Tesla event, with an AI-generated voice prompting viewers to visit the website and deposit their Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Dogecoin to participate in a contest. Over 30,000 viewers tuned in at one point, pushing it to the top of YouTube’s Live Now recommendations.
The lesson from these incidents is clear: don’t follow investment advice from rappers and social media figures. In other news, astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will be extending their stay on the International Space Station due to issues with their return flight on Starliner. Additionally, a federal jury in Las Vegas found five defendants guilty of running a website that illegally streamed TV shows and movies.
